The Box Plymouth

Plymouth

Our Plastic Free culture

The Box Plymouth has taken a number of important steps to reduce plastic use, and proudly holds a Plastic Free Plymouth Gold Award for the work the team has done to minimise plastic in the on-site shop.

The award-winning museum, art gallery and archive has also achieved Gold Award accreditation through the city’s first Green Tourism programme.

This prestigious accolade is the culmination of months of hard work and activity in The Box’s commitment to the climate emergency, including:

  • Solar panels which can harvest 35,000kW energy per year
  • 20,000 British Black Bees to expand the local population
  • LED lighting to reduce energy consumption
  • Using local suppliers and ethical products
  • Cutting down on plastic packaging
