The Mariners Guest House is Plymouth’s first Green Tourism accredited guesthouse. Owners James and Marie Kay pride themselves in being as eco-friendly as possible, with additions such as:
They have removed as much plastic from their guest house as is practical, no plastic bottles of water to be found! Other plastic reductions include:
- Glass reusable bottles
- No plastic straws
- Eliminated plastic yoghurt pots replaced with glass
- Eliminated single-use plastic bags
- No plastic knives and forks
Other sustainable measures include:
- Solar panels for electric and solar thermodynamic panels for hot water
- Part of Surfers Against Sewage
- An electric car dedicated to the guest house.

James and Marie offer you a very warm welcome to the Mariners, one of the best guesthouses in Plymouth. Mariners offers some of the highest-quality bed and breakfast accommodation in Plymouth and is conveniently located 150 yards from the seafront and adjacent to the famous Hoe.
Mariners is a classic four storey Victorian house kept to a very high standard of cleanliness and decor. All rooms have en-suite facilities and the guest house has a sauna.
If you are arriving by train or coach, we are only a short distance from either station. The Continental Ferry Port is only a few minutes away. They are open all year round. There is on road parking opposite the guesthouse available at a rate of £5 for 24 hours.
